RATIONALE

The Philippines is in an era of information technology. In the last decade, Filipinos have discovered the personal computer. Today, it is an indispensable part of daily life. Whether in school, in the office, at home; for work, study, play or recreation, the PC has entered our world and is here to stay.

Unfortunately, the ownership of a personal computer is a privilege not available to many. As such, experience and exposure to the PC is limited. There are many people out there today with no computer skills whatsoever. And in today's world, the use of the computer in all areas (word-processing, data analysis, presentation, database, and graphic design, to name a few) is a bygone conclusion. One must know how to use a PC, lest one is left behind in the wake of those more skilled.

Computer schools abound in Manila. Offering basic computer education at a price quadruple what it is worth. An analysis of these schools' courses and methods reveal that they are ineffective in teaching basic computer skills to the uninitiated. Professionals and employees with little time to spare away from work are forced to enroll in long hours of lecture in a course that may be taught in half the time with hands-on training.

PHILOSOPHY

Sonic201 offers computer tutorials at a hands-on basis. No lectures! Instead, students sit in front of a PC and are guided though each software program.

Classes are output-oriented. After each exercise on the PC, students are required to print out their work.

Classes are small, limited to 8 students only, to ensure supervision of students.
